Build your base near trees, stone, and gold
Don’t rush to place your gold mine in the first place you find. Look around. The ideal location is near a dense group of trees and stone deposits so you can start mining quickly. If there is a gold vein (yellow crystals) nearby, it’s a gift: it increases the rate of gold accumulation, which means you can build your defenses faster.
The correct placement of the gold mine is the key to survival
Don’t place the mine at the edge of the map or too openly. The best location is slightly away from the center, where not all players will come to you at once, but zombies won’t attack from all sides at the same time. Immediately build walls around the perimeter, at least minimal ones. If you leave the mine open for even one wave, even weak zombies will easily destroy it.
Maintain a balance between defense and mining
Many beginners make the mistake of investing only in towers or only in mines. But without resources, you won’t be able to improve your defenses, and without defenses, your mines will quickly fall. At the start, build 1-2 towers for each gold mine. This will give you initial security and a steady flow of resources.
Upgrade, don’t expand
Don’t build 10 first-level towers. It’s better to upgrade 3-4 towers to the second or third level. The same applies to mines: they yield significantly more gold at higher levels than if you build many small ones. Upgrades are cheaper and more effective than expanding your base.
Use spike traps
Spike traps damage all zombies that step on them. Place them in narrow passages and near walls to slow down and weaken enemies before they reach the towers. This is especially effective against strong units such as giants and zombie bosses. Gradually upgrade your traps — the difference in damage between levels is very noticeable.
Don’t place towers right next to walls
This is one of the most common mistakes made by beginners. When zombies break through a wall, they automatically move on to the next target — the tower. If the tower is right behind the wall, it will be destroyed very quickly. By leaving a 1-cell gap, you give yourself the opportunity to repair the wall in time and do not expose the tower to a direct attack.
Play as a team or join alliances
In Zombs.io, you can team up with other players. In a team, one player can gather resources, another can build defenses, and a third can keep an eye on the zombies. If you play solo, you have to do all of this yourself, which is extremely difficult in the later stages. Even if you don’t know anyone personally, you can find allies in the chat — just write that you are looking for teammates or protection.
Always return to base before nightfall
During the day, you can and should gather resources in the area. But don’t forget: when night falls, the zombies attack. They attack only your base, and if you are not there, you will not be able to build, repair, or fight. Always return in advance to take up a defensive position before the wave.
Use the mini-map strategically
The mini-map shows other players and their bases. If there is a well-fortified team nearby, this can be useful: the zombies will be divided between you, and some of them will be distracted. You can also pick vulnerable bases and collect drops after destruction — especially if you don’t mind “cheating” a little without a fight.
Don’t be afraid to relocate your base if you get off to a bad start
If you start building in a bad location — few resources, frequent attacks from other players, or poor location — don’t waste your time. Destroy your stash, collect your resources, and start over. In Zombs.io, it’s better to restart on the second or third day than to suffer defeat on the fifth. The game is about strategy, not stubbornness.
